Sharing & Empowering!
Introducing a new approach to learning
The skills required to advance your career and earn your spot at the top do not come easily. Now there’s a more rewarding approach to hands-on learning that helps you achieve your goals faster. In today’s constantly evolving workplace, employees must continuously learn new skills. Core competencies are changing and thereby increasing the need for ongoing learning. In order to contribute to improving our member’s skills on a continuous basis, ZaMEA is introducing a capacity building initiative called UPSKILLING. The objective of this initiative is to conduct targeted capacity building for members based on the needs identified by members through self-assessment. This initiative will also be used to empower members with new skills, techniques, software’s, and methodologies etc that add value to their competencies. Our goal is to ensure our members have the necessary skills and competencies to carry out their work.
Topics to be covered?
ZaMEA will depend on feedback from members on the skills members need to improve their competencies to help them work efficiently. ZaMEA will also conduct a mapping exercise every year to capture information from its members on their current competencies, gaps and strengths. See appendix 1 for proposed topics.
Who are the facilitators?
The approach for this initiative is to focus on “learning –by-doing” process that encourages the sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices among members. The sessions will combine experts from ZaMEA membership and practitioners with participatory individual exercise and group work.
How much do I pay?
ZaMEA paid up members will pay K100 only and non-members will pay K200 per topic.
What is the duration?
This is intended to be short, practical and focused. Full training days can be problematic: they’re difficult to manage for employees who have already demanding workloads, and frequently marked by low retention of information. Hence each session will run for 3-4hrs per day for 2-3 days depending on the topic. We have proposed Fridays and Saturdays for most of the sessions to allow more people to attend.
ZaMEA will explore ways to track progress of members participating in this initiative. Our goal is to ensure our members are retaining the information and learning the skills we are providing.
